For Teachers and Administrators TCLP is Looking for Host Schools: Increase the global competency of your students by applying to host a fully funded Arabic or Mandarin Chinese exchange teacher with the Teachers of Critical Languages Program (TCLP). NEA Big Read Grants: NEA Big Read is accepting applications from nonprofit organizations, including school districts and regional education agencies, for grants to develop community-wide reading programs. Deadline: January 26, 2017. 21st Century Learning Exemplar Program: P21's 21st Century Learning Exemplar Program highlights best practices in schools across the country that are preparing all students for college, career, and life. Deadline: January 31, 2017. Fund for Teachers: This national, donor-supported organization awards professional growth fellowships to teachers with at least 3 years of experience working with P–12 students in eligible locations. Deadline: January 31, 2017. Tanenbaum Center Survey: The Tanenbaum Center is asking for your feedback via a short survey on the future of diversity and anti-bullying education. Survey closing date: January 31, 2017. Elgin Heinz Teacher Award: The Elgin Heinz Teacher Award recognizes K–12 teachers in the U.S. who further mutual understanding between Americans and Japanese in two categories: humanities and Japanese language. Deadline:February 1, 2017. Qatar Foundation International Teacher Fellowship Program: This program works to develop a strong cohort of highly trained teachers who will be leaders in the field of K–12 Arabic education. Applications for the 2017–2018 Fellowship Program are now open. Deadline: March 5, 2017. Awesome Foundation Grants: The Awesome Foundation is a global community advancing the interest of awesome in the universe, $1,000 at a time. Each fully autonomous chapter supports awesome projects through micro-grants, usually given out monthly. Applications are ongoing. #GlobalEdChat: Join us weekly on Twitter for #GlobalEdChat, an hour-long discussion on current issues in global education. Thursdays at 8 pm Eastern time. For Students Global Citizens Youth Summit: A nine-day program for young leaders, ages 16–19. During the program, students have the unique opportunity to learn from Harvard University faculty and participate in discussion groups led by Phillips Exeter Academy faculty. Deadline: January 31, 2017. David L. Boren Scholarships and Fellowships: Boren Awards provide unique funding opportunities for U.S. undergraduate and graduate students to study abroad, where they can add important international and language components to their educations. Deadlines vary by campus, ending in February 2016. Toshiba/National Science Teachers Association ExploraVision Program: The ExploraVision program challenges teams of students to research the technologies and scientific principles that could have a great impact 20 years from now. Deadline:February 6, 2017. Class Project: 12 Steps for a Better World: What Kids Can Do invites classes of students in grades 7–12 to submit projects outlining and visualizing 12 small steps they can take today for a better world. Deadline: February 17, 2017. World of 7 Billion Video Contest: Students are invited to submit short videos highlighting how human population growth impacts one of the identified issues, along with at least one idea for a sustainable solution. Deadline: February 23, 2017. Global Citizen Year: Each year a group of high school graduates is selected to spend a year abroad as fellows in Africa, Latin America, and Asia. Fellows are immersed in a culture different from their own, live with a host family, and work locally. Rolling admissions; next deadline: March 1, 2017.
