We are pleased to announce that today, IIE launched a national survey to examine how study abroad contributes to employability of U.S. graduates.
This study, part of IIE’s Generation Study Abroad aims to provide evidence of what is otherwise assumed anecdotally about the role study abroad plays in developing competencies for the 21st century job market. The study will employ a two-stage mixed methods approach to gather both quantitative and qualitative data. The findings will be shared widely with the international education field and with policy makers. The survey is conducted in collaboration with Study Partners: American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO), National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), AIFS, CIEE, IES Abroad, and ISEP. We are calling on you, the Generation Study Abroad network, to reach out to your study abroad alumni and to your communities. Our aim is to have 10,000 respondents by the end of the survey period. The survey is a short online 6-minute survey! We have created the following toolkits to help you spread the word with your alumni and university contacts. 1. A social media kit – sample tweets and posts for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn 2. Generation Study Abroad Toolkit with pitch letters for you to send out to your alumni and announcement for your website/newsletters The online survey will take place from April 10 to May 10, 2017. Eligibility: To best assess skills that are most valued in today’s job market, study abroad alumni must have studied abroad during or after the 1999/00 academic year, while seeking an undergraduate or graduate degree from a U.S. higher education institution.
